Azymuth "Summer in Rio" Live at Jazz Está Morto 2022

Last night we got news of the passing of one of the worlds greatest drummers, Ivan "Mamão" Conti, the 50 year member of Azymuth. Mamão was quite literally the heart beat of Brazilian music; making his rhythm felt across decades of our favorite Brazilian music. The Bernard Purdie of the tropics. We were lucky to spend time with him in our studio and stage in 2019 and 2022. Mamão's joy was contagious and pure. His legacy lives on through countless turntables across the world. He wasn’t just a musician…he was a father, a husband, grandfather and a great friend. He welcomed us into his home and gave us some of our greatest memories. We lost a great one. Rest in paradise, meu amigo.
